MARTINSBURG — The Wheeling Park Patriots fell in Wednesday’s WVSSAC Class AAAA North Region State Qualifier matchup against the Martinsburg Bulldogs, bowing out of the postseason in a 49-29 defeat.

The Patriots kept a lid on Martinsburg’s offense in the first half, trailing 19-14 at the break, but the Bulldogs had built a 35-16 lead after three quarters.

Italy Schroeder led Wheeling Park with 13 points. Tianna Sanabria led state tournament-bound Martinsburg with 14.

ST. MARYS — The Blue Devils advanced to the WVSSAC Class A girls basketball state tournament Wednesday with a dominant win over the Dragons. St. Marys was the No. 1 seed in Class A Region 1, while Cameron was the No. 4 seed.
