MARTINS FERRY — East Ohio Regional Hospital is preparing to reopen the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the Martins Ferry facility.
EORH has also purchased new state-of-the-art and minimally invasive equipment in anticipation of the cath lab reopening.
EORH Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini said an Innova IGS3 imaging system, made by GE, is expected to arrive at the hospital next week.
“Reopening our Cath Lab is just another part of Dr. Johnson’s financial investment toward improving our hospital and keeping our promise of delivering modern services to our community,” Albertini said, referring to the hospital’s new owner Dr. John Johnson.
EORH plans to seek the required state regulatory approval prior to officially reopening its Cath Lab.
“We are grateful to be working with such skilled cardiologists like Dr. Triston Smith, our director of Cardiac Services, and his partner, Dr. Gregory Suero Abreu, here at EORH,” Albertini said.
The addition of cardiac cath lab at EORH will add to the wide array of cardiology services currently provided to the community, such as cardiac stress testing, echo sonography, vascular studies, cardiac rehabilitation, electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram services.
East Ohio Hospital LLC is owned by Johnson, a resident of Ohio and board-certified psychiatrist. During the last 35 years, Johnson has started, acquired and grown a variety of health care organizations that he continues to own and operate, including one of Ohio’s largest independent behavioral health centers, Access Ohio, and a 110-bed in-patient psychiatric hospital, Access Hospital outside Dayton, Ohio.
He also owns and operates primary care centers, substance abuse and residential treatment facilities, and telemedicine and health care technology enterprises. The Ohio-based operator said he is committed to returning localized and personal medical care to the residents of Belmont County and the surrounding communities.
