At 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on High Ridge Road in Bellaire issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for slow speed and for passing on a double yellow line. Upon searching the vehicle, criminal simulation money was found, the report indicated.

At 8:57 p.m. Wednesday, a 911 hangup call was received from a phone at the Hampton Inn on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville. The desk clerk reported that everything was OK.

At 5:26 p.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to a report of vandalism on Mt. Hope Road in Lafferty. Broken glass and graffiti with a marker were observed at Lafferty Park. It happened sometime since Monday, according to the report.

At 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, Martins Ferry police requested a deputy at the emergency room at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, where a female with several children with her was alleging that child trafficking was going on, the report stated. Units arrived and requested a representative of Child Protective Services. The children will be going with their grandmother, according to officers. The mother was “pink slipped” through EORH, and there was no merit to the accusations, the officers stated.

At 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant from an address on National Road in St. Clairsville reported their neighbor had the driveway blocked with cones and had chickens running loose. An officer responded and reported that no one was blocking the driveway. The cones were up as a precaution, and the chickens were “just being chickens,” the officer reported.

At 2:02 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported there was a man sitting in a vehicle with Texas plates and cardboard in the windows on Murphy Road in Flushing. The man was watching people go by and asking them for beer and money, according to the complainant. An officer responded. The male was told to move on and not to stop and talk to random people, the report stated.

At 4:10 a.m. Friday, units from the Martins Ferry Police Department while outside of their jurisdiction came across two people asleep in their car at the Pike Island Lock and Dam in Yorkville.

At 11:20 p.m. Thursday, a caller inquired about a registered sex offender who reportedly was leaving the state.

At 6:42 p.m. Thursday, a caller from Walters Road in Jacobsburg reported that a 10-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl both went to the creek to play and are now missing. They had been gone for about an hour. At 6:51 p.m., the caller advised the kids were located on a razor and they were OK.

At 3:38 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a special detail from an investigation at an address on McMillan Road in Barnesville requested contact with the animal shelter to pick up a dog.

At 4:50 p.m. Thursday, an officer performed a welfare check on a woman at an address on Ohio 7 in Powhatan Point. Her son had not talked to her since the previous morning. The officer made contact with the woman, who was fine. She was going to call her son, according to the report.

At 6:37 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Third Avenue in Bellaire issued a citation to an Ohio driver for driving under suspension.

At 4:28 p.m. Thursday, units responded to Vineyard Road in St. Clairsville for a welfare check on a woman. She was located and was fine, the report indicated.

At 3:01 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported seeing a man hit a woman at Cove Road in Powhatan Point. Units responded but did not locate the individuals.

At 10:13 a.m. Thursday, a caller reported that a vehicle was obstructing the view along New Lafferty Road in Morristown. A sergeant responded and reported that the vehicle was not blocking the roadway.

At 9:29 a.m. Thursday, a caller from a residence on Deep Run Road in Martins Ferry reported that she believed someone was in her house. A deputy responded and reported that all doors were locked, and nothing was found to be missing.

At 8:50 a.m. Thursday, a caller from Smith County Road in Flushing reported his juvenile foster son ran away and took a vehicle.
