BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
At 11:02 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Main Street in Neffs reported that a neighbor goes out to her shed every night and pounds on the walls to annoy everyone. A deputy passed through but all was quiet.
At 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported his wallet was lost or stolen from a business on Belmont-Morristown Road in Belmont.
At 9:26 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a front glass break alarm at Pet Supplies Plus in the Ohio Valley Plaza, St. Clairsville. The key holder did not answer but everything was found to be secure, and there was no broken glass, according to the report.
At 8:46 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Flat Rock Road in Barnesville reported that he had not heard from his sister since Sept. 12. She was supposed to be living in Bellaire. An officer checked the residence on Belmont Street, but there was a new resident living there.
At 7:26 p.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to an address on Armstrong-Centerville Road, Centerville, on a request for a welfare check. The officer did not locate the individual.
At 6:14 p.m. Wednesday, a motorcycle at the Bellstores location on South Marietta Street in St. Clairsville had plates that had expired and came back as stolen. The driver was in the store. The plates matched the stolen vehicle hit but not the bike, according to the report. Units from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s office were contacted. The male looked like he wanted to run, according to the report, which stated the male did run from the side of the building toward the interstate and then toward Thompson Drive. The male reportedly attempted to carjack a woman while fleeing from the officers. The bike was towed and impounded, and the male was apprehended and taken to jail. Corey Richard Hackathorn was booked on charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, failure to appear on an aggravating trespassing charge and theft of a license plate.
At 4:29 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant on Kagg Hill Road, St. Clairsville, reported receiving a fraudulent call claiming to be from Huntington Bank.
At 2:07 p.m. Wednesday, a caller was told to contact the sheriff’s office when her tenants at an address on National Road in Bridgeport move out so a deputy could pick up the needles and drug paraphernalia inside and dispose of it for her. Units responded and found a very large amount of drug paraphernalia – too large for units to take at the time, according to the report. The homeowner was to call when the items were boxed up.
At 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, a complainant from East Main Street in Flushing came to the station to speak with a deputy about someone smashing her mirror on her vehicle.
At 12:25 a.m. Friday, an officer on a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near mile marker 213 in St. Clairsville issued a written warning to a Michigan motorist for driving under suspension and for speeding. The family was to have a valid driver get with them, and a deputy moved the vehicle off of the interstate and into a business parking lot for them with the driver’s permission, according to the report.
At 11:38 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to an address on Nelan Road in Bellaire for a report of a breaking and entering in progress. Officers on the scene located a male matching the description provided by central dispatch. He was on the caller’s back porch. Officers recognized the suspect from two previous incidents earlier that day. The male was detained and transported to jail.
At 11:02 p.m. Thursday, officers on a traffic stop on Interstate 70 in St. Clairsville obtained permission to search the vehicle. One male with Ohio registration admitted to paying a prostitute $60 for sexual services that evening, which was the reason he was down this way, according to the report.
