Wheeling Post 1 Falls To Yeager-Benson Post 199
WHEELING — Wheeling Post 1 took a 12-1 loss to Yeager-Benson Post 199 on Friday at home, the visitors turning up the offense after two scoreless innings.
A seven-run fourth inning was the biggest of the day for Post 199, sandwiched between a two-run inning and a three-run inning. The game concluded in five innings.
Chris Upton and Dom Fato each tallied hits for Post 1.
Aleks Zanieski was saddled with the loss, toss 3.2 innings. Brody Groome and Rhyder Dlesk also contributed on the mound. Only five of Post 199’s 12 runs were scored as earned. Post 1 committed five errors to Post 199’s one.
Wheeling Post 1 has a quick turnaround for a busy weekend, hitting the road for a doubleheader Saturday and playing at the Mountaineers Country Invitational on Sunday.
