John Edward McCracken, 83, of Jewett, Ohio, passed away on December 17, 2022 at home. He was born November 4, 1939, a son of the late Lester and Helen Butler McCracken. John was a retired employee of UPS, a U. S. Army Veteran and a former attendant with Beck Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Jill Davis and nine siblings. John R. Burdine, 49, of Belmont, Ohio, died as the result of an accident at work on December 15, 2022. He was born February 7, 1973, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Robert W. Burdine and Freda Sawyers Burdine. John was a roofer for Mansuetto Roofing in Martins Ferry and was a member of the Roofers Local #188 in Wheeling. John enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, especially with his daughter. Donald “Hot Dog” Ward Sr. 93 of Shadyside, Ohio died Thursday, December 15, 2022 at his home. He was born January 13, 1929 in Bellaire, Ohio son of the late Emery E. and Edna McCombs Ward. Hot Dog was a retired truck driver for the Teamsters, a member of the American Legion Post 521 Shadyside, Ohio and a US Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Mary Margaret Campbell Ward, whom he married on January 29, 1949, one daughter, Brenda Lee Ward, two grandsons, Jacob Warner and Eric Wheeler and son-in-law, Steve Warner. Violet Cook, 92, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 12, 1930 on the family farm in Somerton to the late Herman and Maggie (Jefferis) Mayberry. Violet was a graduate of Somerton High School. Her greatest blessing was taking care of the home. She also worked as a secretary for her husband at Don Cook Trucking for many years. Preceding that she had worked for G.C.
