A Dozen Basketball Teams Set For Wheeling Shootout

WHEELING – One of the summer’s longest running sporting events is set to take center stage once again this weekend. The annual Wheeling Recreation Basketball Shootout will tip off Saturday and conclude on Sunday. NEW PHILADELPHIA – Martins Ferry sophomore-to-be Ford Hughes tossed a complete game three-hitter Wednesday night as St. Clairsville Post 159 blanked New Philadelphia, 10-0, in five innings in American Legion baseball action. Hughes struck out four, walked one and yielded a trio of harmless singles in his route-going performance. He threw 66 pitches, with 42 being strikes.
