St. C. schools seeks public input

At their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the Board of Education is seeking public input for using Federal funds, specifically for Title I and IDEA Part B grant funds in the St. Clairsville-Richland City School District. Title I provides intervention for elementary students in reading and mathematics. It may also be used for professional development. IDEA Part B funds help pay for the excess cost of providing special education and related services to children and youth with disabilities ages 3-21. Monies may be used to provide supplementary aids and services in a regular class or other educational settings to a child with a disability to meet that child’s unique needs as identified in their Individual Education Plan. Funds may also support professional development activities for general and special education teachers and families of children with disabilities.

Anybody who knows of a child or youth between the ages of 3-21 suspected of a disability or a handicapping condition should notify the school district. Handicapping conditions, as defined in Operating Standards for Ohio’s Schools Serving Children with Disabilities, include autism, cognitive disability, deaf-blindness, deafness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment.

The St. Clairsville-Richland City School District welcomes any referrals, suggestions, or questions regarding the expenditure of these funds. If you have any questions, please call 740-695-1624.
