Winter programming scheduled at Martins Ferry Public Library

A DISPLAY case at the Martins Ferry Public Library celebrates wintertime and winter-themed children’s books.

MARTINS FERRY — The Martins Ferry Public Library is hosting a variety of events throughout the months of January and February, including monthly recurring adult programs, guest presenters, and children’s

Storytime.

Adult programming is held on Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Bingo–complete with prizes–is held at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. in the library auditorium, with the next game taking place on Feb. 8.

Craft Night is held from 6-7 p.m. the last Monday of each month.

Scheduled crafts include Frosted Jar Lanterns on Jan. 27 and Upcycled Paper Wreaths on Feb. 24.

Registration is required for Craft Night and can be done by calling the library at 740-633-0314.

The Murder Mystery Book Club meets every third Tuesday at 6 p.m. “The Dry” by Jane Harper is being discussed on Jan. 21, and “Death at La Fenice” by Donna Leon is being discussed on Feb. 18.

Lastly, those in need of technology help are encouraged to take advantage of the library’s Tech Tuesday Program by scheduling an hour-long, one-on-one appointment with reference librarian Ellen Kollie.

Appointments are available from 1-4 p.m. every Tuesday.

In connection with Presidents’ Day, learn about the interesting quirks of past presidents with local historian Jason Garczyk as he speaks on “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About America’s Presidents –Or Did You?” at 6 p.m. Feb. 3.

Family programming is scheduled at the library on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

All-ages Movie Nights are held at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. The first showing of the year is Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” on Feb. 5.

Lego Mania takes place on the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m., and is open to children 2 years old and older.

Storytime is held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

Babytime is held on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. beginning Feb. 6. Both programs feature books, rhymes, and songs, as well as art and playtime. Storytime, led by Children’s Librarian Anessa Keifer, is open to children ages 2 and up. Babytime, led by Mrs. Janet Hill, is open to children 6-24 months.
