George and Annette Smith of Steubenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Nicole, to Derek Allen Edwards, son of David and Patty Edwards of St. Clairsville.

The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from West Liberty University in 2010 and a master’s degree in reading from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2012. She is a fifth-grade teacher at Warwood Elementary School in Wheeling.

Her fiance is a 2008 graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in history and education from Mount Union University of 2012. He is working on a master’s degree in educational administration from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He is a history teacher at Martins Ferry High School, where he coaches basketball and football.

A July 3 wedding is planned at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Steubenville.
