Samantha Kay Schaffner of Fayette, Ohio, and James Joseph Gessler II of Bridgeport, together with their families, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Laura and Les Schaffner of Fayette. She graduated from Gorham Fayette High School and Heidelberg College with bachelor’s degrees in education and mathematics. She is employed at Bridgeport Exempted Village School District as a math teacher at Bridgeport High School.

Her fiance is the son of Beth and Jim Gessler of Bridgeport. He is a graduate of Bridgeport High School and is employed as a zone manager at Wal-Mart in Triadelphia.

A summer destination wedding is planned in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
