Woman arrested for drug trafficking, child endangerment

MARTINS FERRY — Martins Ferry police arrested a woman late Tuesday at her apartment for allegedly trafficking drugs and endangering her child.

Tierra Paige White, 19, of 410 Jefferson St., the A.J. Starcher Apartments, Martins Ferry, was arrested on several drug-related charges and child endangerment. Police Chief John McFarland said after collecting evidence to obtain a search warrant, his officers served the warrant at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

“The officers gathered evidence (Tuesday), and with that information we were able to obtain a search warrant at that location. Once inside, (officers found) there was a young child residing at the residence and drugs were found,” McFarland said. “They worked really quickly. It’s not that often that an arrest comes about that quick. And (Prosecutor) Dan Fry’s office was helpful as well.”

McFarland said the child, who is younger than 10 years old, is now in the care of other family members in Columbus, Ohio, which is where White is originally from.

“The officers developed this working within their regular shifts. They did a great job,” McFarland said. “She was the only one there — she and the child.”

He said officers found 247 grams of marijuana, 604 Xanax bars, 72 grams of cocaine, $1,600 in cash and two handguns. A Xanax bar is a pill that is long and rectangular-shaped instead of round or oval like most pills.

White is charged with endangering children, illegal use of or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs (cocaine), possession of drugs (marijuana), possession of drugs schedule I or II substance, possession of drugs schedule III, IV or V substance and trafficking in drugs.

She was lodged Wednesday at the Belmont County Jail in lieu of a total of $41,150 in bonds.
