Still got junk? More cleanups planned

BRIDGEPORT — For those who are just now getting a chance to clean their basements and garages of unwanted junk, there are plenty of cleanup events remaining across Belmont County.

JB Green Team’s Belmont County cleanups are all slated from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The remaining dates include:

Saturday, May 15 — Parking lot behind Chapter Square, 68161 Commercial Drive, Bridgeport;

May 22 — Ferry Landing Road, under Moundsville Bridge;

June 12 — A tire only collection will be at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420 Roscoe Road, St. Clairsville;

June 5 — Holloway village garage, 45 South St., Holloway;

June 26 — Richland Township, Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420 Roscoe Road, St. Clairsville;

Sept. 18 — Centerville Community Center, 46642 Main St., Centerville;

Sept. 25 — Union Township Garage, 70098 Alexander Road, Lafferty; and

Oct. 2 — Wayne Township Garage, 55020 New Castle Road, New Castle.

The cleanups are for household items and not hazardous waste.

“Yes, we accept most old household junk … house and lawn furniture, carpeting, plastic riding and climbing toys, push lawn mowers, tools, fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, car batteries, packing materials, etc.,” according to the JB Green Team Facebook page.

Items not accepted include tires, appliances, mattresses, electronics or TVs, paint, liquids, fluorescent tubes, ballasts or the hazardous waste. Household garbage such as food or diapers also will not be accepted, along with leaves, trees, brush trimmings, insulation, concrete or blocks or bricks. And items that are oversized, such as hot tubs and boats, will not be taken.
