At 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Pearl Street in Martins Ferry issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for a faulty license plate light.
At 10:54 p.m. Tuesday, a caller from an address on Blaine-Chermont Road in Bridgeport reported that her daughter heard someone pounding on the door but didn’t see anyone. When the caller got home, she noticed damage to the door. Information was taken for a report.
At 10:36 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Highland Avenue and 36th Street in Bellaire issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for a turn signal violation.
At 10:11 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on 48th Street in Bellaire issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for failure to signal.
At 9:37 p.m. Tuesday, officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Bellaire Fire Department with a one-vehicle crash on Patterson Hill/Neffs-Bellaire Road in Bellaire. At 10:22 p.m., the Bellaire Fire Department requested that a deputy come back out because a crowd was gathering, according to the report.
At 8:46 p.m. Tuesday, a caller from an address on Boyd Avenue in Bridgeport reported that she and her husband were arguing, and he was saying that she cannot take the baby. The caller denied that anything physical happened and said there were no weapons or firearms, according to the report. Officers responded, and the female caller left with the youngest child to go to her mother’s house in Piedmont.
At 8:18 p.m. Tuesday, officers served a felony warrant at an address on Rice Avenue in Bethesda. James Robert Phillips Jr. was arrested and booked into the Belmont County Jail on charges of failure to appear and obstruction of justice.
At 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Interstate 470 east near the High Ridge overpass in Bellaire issued a warning to a New York motorist for driving outside of marked lanes.
At 8 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 call with an open line was received from an address on Webb Heights Road in Shadyside. The house phone was busy on callback. An officer reported that emergency medical service personnel were on the scene, and the sheriff’s office could cancel.
At 7:48 p.m. Tuesday, units were out with a suspicious vehicle near the Oil and Gas Safety Supply building on Mall Road in St. Clairsville. Two males in a car were reportedly doing doughnuts. A written warning for street racing was issued.
At 7:51 p.m. Tuesday, an automatic crash detection was received from a 911-only phone at an address on Tacoma Road in Barnesville. Loud talking or yelling could be heard on the line. Officials were unable to call back or make contact with anyone on the call. Barnesville police were notified. According to the report, an elderly male fell, but was OK.
At 7:12 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on National Road in St. Clairsville near East Richland Market issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for improper display.
At 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Bel-Capri Apartments in Pultney Township for a report of a fight involving four males. Officers reported that the fight was over lost keys. All parties were leaving the area. There were no injuries, and no damage was done.
At 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of domestic trouble at an address on Rolling Hills Lane in Pultney Township. A caller stated that someone just left the residence making threats of coming back and burning down the house, according to the report.
At 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, a caller from Thomas Road in Martins Ferry reported that he walked into Double D’s Bar and Grill on Glenns Run Road in Martins Ferry and found a male unresponsive. Martins Ferry EMS was dispatched. This was confirmed to be a DOA. A detective and other officers were called to the scene, and information was taken for a report.
At 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to Love’s Travel Center on Belmont-Morristown Road for a possible shoplifting incident. According to the officer, the person paid for an item at a different register, and the store manager didn’t know it.
At 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to an address on Marion Street in Bridgeport to assist Bridgeport police with a fight involving two males and a female. The female refused to pursue charges, according to the report.
