BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

At 7:12 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on National Road in St. Clairsville near East Richland Market issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for improper display.

At 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Bel-Capri Apartments in Pultney Township for a report of a fight involving four males. Officers reported that the fight was over lost keys. All parties were leaving the area. There were no injuries, and no damage was done.

At 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of domestic trouble at an address on Rolling Hills Lane in Pultney Township. A caller stated that someone just left the residence making threats of coming back and burning down the house, according to the report.

At 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, a caller from Thomas Road in Martins Ferry reported that he walked into Double D’s Bar and Grill on Glenns Run Road in Martins Ferry and found a male unresponsive. Martins Ferry EMS was dispatched. This was confirmed to be a DOA. A detective and other officers were called to the scene, and information was taken for a report.

At 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to Love’s Travel Center on Belmont-Morristown Road for a possible shoplifting incident. According to the officer, the person paid for an item at a different register, and the store manager didn’t know it.

At 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to an address on Marion Street in Bridgeport to assist Bridgeport police with a fight involving two males and a female. The female refused to pursue charges, according to the report.

At 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy was at the Belmont County Jail to speak with the sergeant on duty about a PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) report. Information was taken for the report, in which the incident log was listed as a sex offense.

At 9:06 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop in Interstate 470 east near the High Ridge Road overpass in Pultney Township was given consent to search a semi-truck, according to the report. Nothing was found. A warning was given for improper display, driving outside of marked lanes and texting while driving.

At 8:48 p.m. Wednesday, deputies assisted Flushing police at an address on East High Street in Flushing on a call about a domestic dispute. Parties were separated, and charges were to be sent in by the Flushing Police Department.

At 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, a missing male was found alive by a unit with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources near Reynolds Road in Piedmont. Bill’s Towing was advised. The patient was being taken to the WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital emergency room.

At 8 p.m. Wednesday, loss prevention personnel from Boscov’s at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville had a shoplifter in custody. The male was positively identified, according to the report.

At 7:01 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Hanover Street in Martins Ferry issued a warning to a West Virginia motorist for driving outside of marked lanes.

At 5:32 p.m. Wednesday, a male came to the station to turn himself in because he missed a court date when he was in the hospital. He was turned over to the jail without incident.

At 5:23 p.m. Wednesday, several units responded to the area of Big Lots on National Road in Bridgeport for a report of a suspicious male outside with a knife. The subject had been inside the store sitting on a couch. The individual out of Mansfield, Ohio, had a warrant with the Ohio Department of Corrections Adult Parole Authority for a parole violation.

At 5:19 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to a location on Chestnut Ridge Road in Warren Township for a report of vandalism to a home and some flags missing.

At 3:41 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy observed a two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries on Bannock-Uniontown Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded, as did a representative from the Belmont County Animal Shelter. The OSHP handled the crash report, and sheriff’s units assisted with traffic control.

At 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant from Overlook Court in Bellaire came to the station to report a Walmart account and several other accounts had been hacked. Credit cards were used. Her daughter’s credit cards were attached to her account, and they were used, as well. A deputy took a written statement and information for a theft report.

At 10:03 a.m. Wednesday, a sergeant on a traffic stop on McClainsville Road in Neffs issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for improper passing.

At 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to an address on Powhatan Hill Road in York Township after a 911 call was received with static on the line and a busy signal upon callback. The officer did not come in contact with anyone at this address, the report indicated.

At 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, a caller from the Pilot Travel Center on Belmont-Morristown Road in Union Township reported that a group of teens – three males and one female – were in the store for a few hours stating that they were lost. The juveniles then walked toward Love’s Travel Center. Units responded and located the group. The teens stated that they were unable to contact their parents via phone. All of them were from Barnesville. Information was gathered, and the Barnesville police were contacted. Police were able to make contact with their parents, and all of the juveniles were picked up at Love’s, according to the report.

At 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near Shadyside reported that a K-9 gave a positive indication on the driver’s side of the vehicle, which appeared to have fresh damage – paint marks on both sides. Shadyside police were also involved in the stop, according to the report. The Moundsville Police Department was contacted to see if they had any reported hit-skip incidents in their jurisdiction, which they did not. A female in the vehicle stated that the damage was there previously. One male was detained after he refused a field sobriety test. Hervie Leonard Johnson of Cleveland was transported to and booked into the Belmont County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, driving under suspension and a probation violation. One officer transported a female passenger to an address on Eagle Court in Wheeling.
