COVID vaccination clinics still available

Ferry event is today

MARTINS FERRY — While it may appear efforts to keep the COVID virus in check are winding down across the nation, local officials are still encouraging people to get their vaccination against the virus as soon as possible.

For example, Martins Ferry area residents and beyond who need their COVID vaccination can get one today at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center, 401 S. Fourth St.

Southeast Healthcare is hosting the clinic from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. The clinic is open to the public and walk-ins are welcome.

People can also call for an appointment at 740-695-7705 or 740-391-3605. The vaccine that will be given during this clinic is manufactured by Moderna. A second shot of it is recommended after 28 days.

Meanwhile, the Belmont County Health Department also is continuing to hold walk-in clinics at the Ohio Valley Mall’s former Sears building and other locations across the county. It is offering vaccines made by Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.

It hosting one from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. today at the Belmont County Health Department, 68501 Bannock Uniontown Road, St. Clairsville.

Other upcoming clinics include:

∫ Monday — 1-3 p.m. at Barnesville Fire Department;

∫ Wednesday — 10 a.m. to noon at Salvation Army, Bellaire; and

∫ Wednesday — 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Bellaire High School.

People are asked to bring their insurance card if they have it, but the shot is free to everyone.

Insurance providers may be billed for the work of administering the shot.

Many pharmacies are continuing to offer the vaccine by appointment or walk-ins, too.

The health department is also offering its COVID vaccination services to local businesses who may need it for their employees.

Health department nurses will come to the business to vaccinate employees.

An administration fee will be charged to their insurance.
