Calling it a win for families, Ohio’s new attorney general Friday praised a federal appeals court ruling that allows the state’s social media age verification law to take effect after sitting for more than two years. MARTINS FERRY — Summer vacation may have just begun for many students, but the countdown to the 2026-27 school year is already underway in the Martins Ferry City School District. District officials have released the academic calendar for the upcoming school year, which will see students return to classrooms Aug. 19 following two teacher in-service days on Aug. 17-18.
