WLDA KLEEVIC

Wilda Marie Kleevic, 88, of St. Clairsville, passed from this life on August 22, 2018. She was born on a farm near Sardis, Ohio, to the late Jerome and Ida Forrest.

An only child, Wilda walked over four miles up and down the Swiss Hills of Monroe County to reach a one-room school house in Jackson Township. When snow was too deep to walk, her father took her to school by horse drawn sled.

She often spoke of playing with lambs from the farm’s sheep herd, watching her father slop hogs in their pen, and smell of cured meats in the smokehouse as she retrieved ham or bacon for her mother.

Later graduating from Sardis High School as class valedictorian, she furthered her education at Wheeling Business College of Commerce. Going on to work in the finance department at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. After meeting the man of her dreams, while he was on leave from the Marine Corps, she began their 63 year marriage and devotion to family life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Spontak Kleevic, an infant son, Jerome, and a grandson, Brad Bilowus.

She is survived by her children, Connie (Dan) Fogle, Chris (Mark) Bilowus and George (Lisa) Kleevic; grandchildren, Tyler, Clayton, Ryan, Ethan, and Kristen.

A private service will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda.
