JULIUS CZAP
Julius G. “Zip” Czap, 88, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 20, 1931 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Peter and Theresa (Santavec) Czap.
Zip was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School, Class of ’49. He was a machinist at Valley Machine and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant. Zip was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Korean War.
He was a member of American Legion Post #38 in Martins Ferry and of Pine Valley Sportsmen’s Club in Adena, where he served as webmaster. Zip was an avid wood-worker, gardener, and outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and spending time with his friends at Pine Valley Sportsmen’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William P. Czap; and sisters, Gazella T. Burkle and Margaret J. Slotwinski.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Shirrel A. (Kadlic) Czap, a daughter, Debbie Czap of Westerville, OH and several nieces and nephews.
A Private Funeral Service will be celebrated at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH with burial to follow in Belmont Co. Memorial Park, St. Clairsville, OH.
