LELAND FORREST

Leland F. (Lee) Forrest, formerly of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away on July 2 at 7:45 PM. He lived in London, Ohio for 14 years, the last six years in The Blue Bird Retirement Community. He was born on Dec. 12, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George C. Forrest and Agnes (Fischer) Forrest. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, and his first wife, Esther. Also, his dearly beloved second wife Alecia of St. Clairsville, Ohio, in 2004.

He is survived by a loving family of step-children: C. Gay (Mel) Drumm of Thornville, Ohio, Steven W. (Sylvia) Gaston, of Grove City, Ohio, William (Terri) Connelly of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ellen Connelly (Ralph) Hamilton of Belmont, Ohio. Grand Children: Amy Browning, James Browning, Rachel Gaston, Eve Gaston Smith, Ben and Annelise Connelly, plus seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lee was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, second American Legion Post 159, both of St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific Islands aboard the USS Topeka, CL67.

Lee’s entire working career was in or on behalf of newspaper. Starting his career in Chicago he went to New York, and then Cleveland. He worked on the advertising staff and as a manager of a marketing firm, promoting national advertising. Lee retired as Cleveland Office Manager in 1982 and moved to St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Lee was an avid amateur photographer and former member and officer of camera clubs in the area where he lived. Over the years he won many awards for his artistic photography.

A celebration of life will be held on July 8th, from 4 to 7 pm at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main St., London, Ohio 43140. There will be a family grave side service in St. Clairsville, Ohio Thursday, July 9th at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in the memory of Lee Forrest to the Organ Fund, Calvary Presbyterian Church, 100 South Marietta, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
