Recovery

Dear Editor,

I hope Congress had a nice Easter break. Now it’s time to deal with the real problems. Every time I hear about our President’s rhetoric about the recovery of our country, I want to literally come unglued! While they were all enjoying a “Happy Easter” with their families (or secret “other”), millions of Americans were left high and dry waiting on unemployment checks that ran out because Congress failed to act on this very necessary and humane extension bill!

I hope that they were all well fed because many of our citizens and previous children went hungry and Congress continues to spend on many pet, but frivolous projects, but they failed miserably on this one because the poor things were so tired and deserved a break!

I thank God every day that my husband, who is 72 years old, can and is still working. We definitely need insurance, but I personally know more than 50 people who have lost their jobs due to the economy!

My big beef is when I hear one of our politician’s say that the economy is turning around and the unemployment is way down. How dumb do they think we are? Our citizens’ unemployment has run out, and without the prospect of finding jobs after trying literally hundreds of times, they are so frustrated that they just give up.

So, if they don’t re-apply, on the “books” it appears that unemployment is down and we are in recovery. Baloney! Shame on our congress for filling their belly’s when many of our citizens don’t know where their next meal is coming from, or how they will provide for their families!

The families of our politicians are provided for in every way, and their constituents deserve no less.

Sincerely,

Lana Traczyk
