Restoration

Dear?Editor

America faces many problems, some of which seem insurmountable. The answers to these problems will not be found in politics. The November elections, while important in slowing down the fundamental transformation of America, will not solve our problems. Our problems will not be solved by electing more people of one party over another party. We can make progress only by returning to God. This was the theme of the Restoring Honor Rally held in Washington D C on Aug. 28.

My wife and I attended the rally and despite what the media reported, we were part of a crowd in excess of 500,000 people. A tea party gathering this was not, as not one sign could be seen. The rally focused on faith, hope and charity. The prevailing theme was faith in God, hope in standing on truth and charity by helping our neighbors. The day could best be summed up in the following from Psalm 33.

“Blessed the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen for his own inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down; he sees all mankind. From his fixed throne he beholds all who dwell on the earth. He who fashioned the heart of each, he who knows all their works. Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield, for in him our hearts rejoice; in his holy name we trust.”

As a nation we must get behind the shield of God. As individuals we need not think that God is on our side, but rather that we are on God’s side.

Aug. 28, 2010 will always be a very memorable day. We must not let the message of that day end there, but we must let that day be the beginning of the restoration of America.
