Dear Editor, The Times Leader’s Opinion page has been featuring more and more right-wing foolishness; the January 5th edition provides excellent examples. A Creators Syndicate writer trys to convince us Israel’s October 7th loss of 1200 people is genocide, but the death of 22000 Palestinians (and counting) is not. He conveniently overlooks Israel’s indiscriminate bombing and shelling of the civilian population, the embargo of food, fuel, and medicine, or their orders to move to “safe” areas which they then bomb. Biden Unfit to hold office

Dear Editor, After reading a letter in last Sunday’s newspaper by a frequent contributor to this column, I felt a need to respond. He cites Robert Reichas a Nobel Prize winner in economics and his giving credit to Biden for significant economic accomplishments. First of all, there is no record that I could find that Robert Reich ever won the Nobel Prize. It should be noted that Robert Reich is a Democrat and is well connected with the Washington machine. Dear Editor, Many readers are aware of the article in The Times Leader entitled “Former YSU President Blasts Trustees,” which appeared on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Leslie Cochran, a former Youngstown State University president, called for the Board of Trustees to rescind its offer to make U.S. Representative Bill Johnson the next president, and for the congressman to withdraw from consideration. Food drive a success

Dear Editor, Thank you to all who helped make the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Annual Food Drive a success. I am truly grateful for all the residents who generously donated, all the companies, schools, and groups who donated food items or made monetary donations, for the entities that acted as “donation stations” where the community members could drop off donations, and for the stores that ran in-store food collections.
