Dear Editor, A PTT Global Chemical spokesperson touted the company’s reputation in an October 27 Times Leader column as being environmentally friendly. The Thailand-based corporation has eyes on Belmont County for a plastic cracker plant. Being rated No. 1 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in the chemical sector is hardly a reason for celebration. Dear Editor, I’m not worried about man trying to destroy the climate and world. The Bible says that man’s effect on the weather has nothing to do with its destruction. Jan Markell, a widely known minister, once said the weather or those things involved with it are mentioned about 50 times in the Bible. Dear Editor, In The Times Leader article on October 14 Dan Williamson tells us about “PTTGCA’s commitment to reducing waste, combating climate change and protecting public health and safety.” So Mr. Williamson and PTTGC recognize the reality of climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions and the need to combat that.
