In answer to ‘Reader critical of opinion pages’

Dear Editor, In answer to the letter “Reader critical of opinion pages: He complains about the syndicated columnist and local writers regaling us with imaginary Biden defects. If you mean that they are pointing out the Bidens’ actions that will result in: ∫ Hyperinflation which will drive the prices of virtually form of goods and services available to we the consumers. ∫ The Southern Border that for all practical purposes no longer exist and the country being flooded with illegal immigrants that have not for the most part not been vetted and many of whom are infected ...

False promises

Dear Editor, A PTT Global Chemical spokesperson touted the company’s reputation in an October 27 Times Leader column as being environmentally friendly. The Thailand-based corporation has eyes on Belmont County for a plastic cracker plant. Being rated No. 1 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in the chemical sector is hardly a reason for celebration. The chemical industry uses enormous amounts of energy (approximately 10 percent of global energy use) and relies on fossil fuels (fracked gas and petroleum) as feedstocks for their products. The chemical industry is estimated to ...

Voter supports Bridgeport levy

Dear Editor, My name is John J. Callarik. I was the former mayor of the village of Bridgeport for 16 years. I want to show my support for the Bridgeport Police Department and all of the local police departments, sheriff departments and state patrols. In my capacity as mayor, I worked closely with the police departments and understand and know what the job entails. I know what it takes to keep our citizens safe — especially in these trying times. Our police departments are typically responsible for maintaining public order and safety, enforcing the laws of the land as well as ...

Man and Enviroment

Dear Editor, I’m not worried about man trying to destroy the climate and world. The Bible says that man’s effect on the weather has nothing to do with its destruction. Jan Markell, a widely known minister, once said the weather or those things involved with it are mentioned about 50 times in the Bible. What the global leftists of this world don’t understand is that God is in control of the earth, not man. I would refer the environmentalists to these scripture verses: 2nd Peter 3.10-12, Isaiah 51:6, Psalm 102:25-26, Revelation 20:11, 2 Peter 3:7 and Hebrews 1:10-12. ...

A candidate that can be trusted to have the courage to lead our district. Teaching is a difficult job, but truly rewarding. As a lifelong educator, Dr. Miller has worked to help all students throughout the district. Students were not ...

How will plant combat climate change?

Dear Editor, In The Times Leader article on October 14 Dan Williamson tells us about “PTTGCA’s commitment to reducing waste, combating climate change and protecting public health and safety.” So Mr. Williamson and PTTGC recognize the reality of climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions and the need to combat that. According to their air permit application PTTGC expects the Dilles Bottom plant to emit 1,785,043 tons of greenhouse gases annually. That works out to 1 ton of greenhouse gas every 18 seconds. At present there are zero greenhouse gases being emitted from ...
