Reader disagrees with letter on bomb

Dear Editor, I have read many of Bill Bryant’s letters in your newspaper. Some of his ideas I have agreed with and some I have not. When I read the one in my paper of Aug. 8, I felt a cold chill right down my spine! I believe if Mr. Bryant had been with me aboard the USS SC(C) 1349 the first week of August 1945 he might feel differently. At that time we were located in Lingayen Gulf on the north end of Lozon. There were also troop transport ships loaded wit U.S. Army infantry there, and we were rehearsing for the first invasion of one of the Japanese home islands — we enlisted ...

Rome and America

Dear Editor, I’m done. I am so sick of the hypocrisy of the left, the elites, the big media, the tech companies, Democrat mayors and leaders. … I’m done! So if you are Nancy Pelosi you can make a salon open because you need your hair done while the whole state of California is shut down and many small businesses go under. If you are a famous person on the left or a criminal killed by a cop, you can have a massive funeral where no one wears a mask but people whose family member dies in a hospital aren’t allowed to be visited in their last moment of death or allowed a ...

Discrimination against U.S. citizens

Dear Editor, Large department stores choose to discriminate on anyone that chooses not to wear a mask in public. There is no evidence that prove that mask will stop the spread of any airborne virus. If so, why are we not told to wear a mask in flu season? Dr. Fauci admitted he lied about the use of masks not helping so there would be enough for the medical field (some sources report). If masks helped, he could have told us to use cloth made masks. Then they told us where we could shop. They picked the stores that could stay open. We did not have the choice to shop in our ...

Congress should pass suicide hotline measure

Dear Editor, September is Suicide Prevention Month and it’s purpose is that we be there for each other and take steps to prevent suicide. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s theme for the month is to #KeepGoing, by taking simple actions to safeguard our mental health and save lives. From learning the warning signs for suicide and what to do if you are worried someone is struggling, to bringing education programs to your community, we can all learn new ways to help each other save lives. One action I’m taking is to urge my public officials to prioritize suicide ...

Threats to the Postal Service

Dear Editor, I am writing concerning the crisIs in the Postal Service. This vital entity is under attack by the President and his fellow Republicans. President Trump has pledged to “starve the Postal Service” of much needed funding while handing out relief money with ease to other businesses that are affected by the current pandemic. He has even gone so far as to call it “a joke.” Our local congressman, Bill Johnson, seems to think that the latest controversy was drummed up by Speaker Pelosi and her liberal left allies. He claims that Democrats conjured up yet another ...

The only effective reformer of the world

Dear Editor, I can’t think of any better way of expressing my feelings about the present state of our lives and this country’s human relations (or lack thereof). I offer the words of evangelical pastor and educator, Samuel Davies (1757): “When He comes — He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment!” John 16:8 “The Holy Spirit is the only effectual reformer of the world! If He is absent — legislators may make laws against crime; philosophers may reason against vice; ministers may preach against sin; conscience may remonstrate against evil; the ...
