The inaugural Rich Saffield Memorial Golf Scramble, which was originally scheduled for Aug. 1 and then postponed, has been rescheduled.

The event, which will benefit the Saffield Memorial Scholarship at Union Local, will be played as a senior scramble on Saturday, Sept. 15 at BecWood Hills Golf Course.

The players in the event must be 55 years and older and the entry fee is $50 per player. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The winning team will receive $500 and there are plenty of large door prizes to be awarded during the event.

BELMONT HILLS CC

The club recently completed its Men’s Match Play Tournament. Dave Diosi was crowned the champion, winning the match 4 and 2 over Jack Carpenter. J.C. Thrash finished third and Bryan Woodford was fourth.

SCRAMBLE RESULTS

The 33rd annual St. Joseph, Tiltonsville, Holy Name Society’s 4-man golf scramble was held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Fairway River Links.

The event was won by the team of Larry Boroski, Larry Boroski II, Doug Berry and Ryan Clark.

The runner-up team was comprised of Dave Scarpone, D. Figurski, Joel Walker and B. Scarpone.

There were also three closest to the pin prizes awarded and those went to Ed Leonard, Jason Sgalla and Joel Walker.

The 50-50 was won by Dave Schuetz.

ACE

DAVE PITTNER of Bridgeport recorded an ace on the 125-yard par 3 16th at BecWood Hills on Aug. 16. He used a 9-iron for his feat, which was witnessed by Scott Gordon of Bridgeport.

GOLF WITH THE SHERIFF

The second annual Ronald “Joe” Myers Golf Scramble Fundraiser will take place on August 29 at the Cadiz Country Club. Shotgun start will be 2 p.m. Registration begins at 1 p.m. The cost is $65 per person which includes skins, lunch at the turn, steak dinner and participation gifts. • THE INAUGURAL St. C. Junior Sports Scramble will be held at Belmont Hills Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 29 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The entry fee is $100 per player and that includes mulligans and a skins game. The cost includes an Outback catered dinner and beverages on the course during the round. • THE 2nd annual Dominick Nardo Golf Scramble will be held on Aug. 22 at Belmont Hills Country Club.

The event will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and the entry fee is $500 per team. Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships to be presented to St. Clairsville High School students in memory of Nardo.

• THE CAMPAIGN for Moving Healthcare Forward will hold a golf scramble at Belmont Hills Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 3 with a shotgun start slated for noon. The event will be a four-person scramble and include skill contests.

Sponsorships are availble for the event and there are four levels, all of which include a team entry in the field.
