Petteway and Paige pick up special laurels
Each week several Ohio Valley standout put forth impressive efforts on a myriad of fields at the collegiate level.
Two, however, gained special accolades after posting notable performances in victories last week.
Steubenville graduate Shyoun Petteway was named defensive player of the week in the Great Midwest Conference after turning in an effort, which included 15 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery from his corner spot. Of his tackles, eight were solo.
Petteway has been a starter the last three games and has shined. He has picked off a pass each of the last three weeks. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Petteway has made 34 tackles.
Wheeling Park graduate Geremy Paige, who had an outstanding prep career with the Patriots, was named Defensive Player of the Week in the GLIAC after a 10-tackle performance last week.
It marked the second straight game that Paige recorded double-figure tackles. He had five tackles in each half, including a huge stop on a third-down play to thwart a drive.
