Prep Roundup: Bridgeport pair wins mat titles at Waterloo

ATWATER, Oh. — Bridgeport had a pair of champions at the Division III Classic at Waterloo High School.

Seniors Mason Kuneff (160) and Tino Kusic (170) both went 7-0 on the weekend to claim individual titles.

North Canton Holiday Tournament

St. Clairsville had a second-place finisher in sophomore Koen Kish at 120 pounds. He went 4-1 on the weekend and avenged a pair of losses last year when he defeated West Holmes’ Tyler Masters in the finals.

Teammate Justice McCamick went 5-2 and finished fourth at 220.

St. Clairsville journeys to Parkersburg South Wednesday for a triangular match with River Valley.

St. Clairsville finished 13th out of 29 teams.

GIRLS

Barnesville 40, Edison 18

RICHMOND–The Barnesville defense held host Edison to just one point in the third quarter as the ‘Rocks rolled to victory.

Mallory Conner paced the Shamrocks (3-4) with 13 points.

BOYS

Shadyside 54, Union Local 50

MORRISTOWN–Kelly Hendershot scored a game-high 20 points to lead visiting Shadyside over Union Local.

Anthony Coggins supplied 12 and Collin Holmes added 10 points in the win.

Cal Kildow paced the Jets with 13 points and Elijah Baker added 12.

St. Clairsville 115, Barnesville 97

ST. CLAIRSVILLE–An offensive explosion went off inside the St. Clairsville gym as the Red Devils outlasted the Shamrocks.

Matt Busby paced St. C. with 33 points, while David Lane drained seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points.

Brett Vike supplied 22, Craig Bober garnered 20 and Javon Lyons added 14 in the win.

Luke Powell went off for a game-high 43 points and Tate Dowler poured in 32 points for the Shamrocks.

Aaron Marovich added 13 in defeat.

Frontier 46, Monroe Central 40

WOODSFIELD – Logan Brookover scored 20 points, including 11 in the first quarter, as Frontier downed Monroe Central.

Kyle Daugherty added nine points off the bench for the Cougars.

Wyatt Young paced the Seminoles (2-4) with 17 points, while Zac Jones had 10.

Martins Ferry 75, Bellaire 46

BELLAIRE — The Purple Riders bounced back impressively from their loss to Wheeling Park Friday night with a big win over rival Bellaire.

Sophomore Logan Smith scored 19, while senior Deandre Pugh added 17 and Daysn Hores netted 14.

Bellaire was led by David Zwack’s 11.
