Shadyside spikes Monroe in early season showdown

WOODSFIELD — Trista Morris turned in 16 digs, seven points, three aces and six kills but Monroe Central fell to Shadyside, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23

The Tigers received 12 kills from sophomore Gentry Brown. She also had three aces, four digs and three blocks. Kylie Jo Baker had eight kills and four blocks, while Paige Gorby donated seven kills, seven digs and two blocks. Tory Hendershot had five kills, two aces and two digs, while Baylee Wach added four kills, two assists, two blocks and two digs.

Indian Creek d. Oak Glen 23-25, 20-25, 25-12, 25-23, 15-13

WINTERSVILLE — Taylor Jones provided nine kills and six blocks as Indian Creek took down defending state champion in Class AA West Virginia.

Lexi Crane added 13 kills and four aces for the Redskins.

Bellaire d. Buckeye Local 25-16, 25-12, 26-24

BELLAIRE — The Big Reds picked up their first win of the season in three sets over the Panthers. Gracelyn Maupin had nine aces, while Allie Ault had seven kills, six aces and 12 points. Gianna Schmidt had seven kills and two aces. Sidney Rowson added nine digs. Bryanna Beckett had 23 assists, four aces and three kills. Jayden Lowe added three kills, nine digs and two aces.

Buckeye received 11 digs and four points from Kassidy George. Abbey Kinyo had five assists, while Regan Hunter had three kills.

Late Tuesday

St. John Academy d. Cameron, 25-15, 25-17, 25-23

CAMERON — The Irish made relatively quick work of the Dragons on Tuesday. Kyle Kull had 24 points, 16 aces, two digs and three assists. Elizabeth Schnegg had 10 digs.

Gracie Carter and Logan Schrack each had three aces for the Dragons.

Barnesville d. Harrison Central, 25-20, 22-25, 25-13, 25-21

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks picked up another win Tuesday, needing four games.

Rylee Stephens had 15 kills, eight aces and 22 points. She also had five blocks. Halle Markovich had 15 kills and three digs. Kynlie Cline had 10 digs.

Harrison Central 159, Buckeye Local 185

RAYLAND — Aiden Sliva shot a 39 to earn match medalist honors and lead Harrison Central past Buckeye Local.

Sam Santille, Heath Clay and Trevor Thompson all turned in cards of 40 for the victorious Huskies.

Josh Kukuta paced the Panthers with a 43.

SISTERSVILLE — Alex Parker shot a 38 to pick up medalist honors and lead Magnolia to a second place finish.
