Prep Roundup: UL girls bounce back; Beallsville boys and girls win

MORRISTOWN — Union Local bounced back from a tough loss on Saturday with a big, repeat victory over Shadyside, 81-57, inside ‘The Hangar.’

The Jets blew open a seven-point, halftime game with a 24-18 third quarter and then finished the job by outscoring the Tigers, 22-11 in the fourth.

Sophomore standout Reagan Vinskovich continued to score points in bunches. She led all scorers with 27 points. Classmate Torre Kildow added 22 and junior Hannah Merritt finished with 13.

Shadyside was led by senior ace Baylee Wach, who pumped in 17, including five bonus goals. Junior Paige Gorby and sophomore Gentry Brown each had 11.

Beallsville 50, Steubenville Catholic 44

BEALLSVILLE — The homestanding Blue Devils owned a 10-point lead at halftime and went on to post the repeat win over Steubenville Central Monday afternoon.

Beallsville was led by Makenna Phillips’ 22 points. Halley Bommer and Cheyenne Riley evenly divided 22 points.

Katie Zatta led the Crusaders with 15.

Barnesville 50, Shenandoah 45

SARAHSVILLE — The invading Shamrocks staged a fourth-quarter rally and picked up the victory over the Zeps.

Barnesville was led by Halle Markovich, who scored 25 points. Anna Yater added nine in top support.

Martins Ferry 78, Beaver Local 44

LISBON — Martins Ferry snapped a modet losing streak with an impressive road win at Beaver Local.

The Purple Riders were led by junior Allarah Jones, who scored 20 points. Classmate Maria Clark added 17, while junior Hunter Pollock and frosh Danielle Lude each netted 13.

BOYS

Beallsville 39, Newcomerstown 34

BEALLSVILLE — The homesteading Blue Devils picked up the first win of the Terry Jarrett era thanks to a strong fourth quarter against Newcomerstown.

The Devils were down by five entering the final chapter when they outscored the Trojans, 13-7.

Adam Baker led Beallsville with 17 points, while Brandon Louden added 14.
