Monroe sweeps Frontier to lock up a piece of the MOVL title

WOODSFIELD — Monroe Central wrapped up a piece of the Mid-Ohio Valley League championship by sweeping Frontier by scores of 25-18, 25-10 and 25-11.

The Seminoles shared the league title with Shadyside. The two split their regular-season meetings.

Against the Cougars, Monroe Central was led by Haylyn Hiles, who had five kills and two blocks. Trista Morris had four kills, 15 digs, eight points and an ace. Kalista Friday had 19 digs. Olivia Valkovic had six assists, five aces and five points. Kyra English added eight digs.

Bellaire sweeps triangular

HANNIBAL — Bellaire picked up a pair of victories in a triangular inside the R.L. Potts Gymnasium at River on Wednesday.

The Big Reds opened the evening by sweeping River, 25-10 and 25-12. They followed with a 25-19, 25-20 victory against Clay-Battelle.

Against the Pilots, Gianna Schmidt had eight kills, three digs, while Allie Ault added four kills, seven digs and two aces. Quinn Boyle had four kills. Sidney Rowson had six digs and four aces. Ava Marinacci posted six assists and Gracelyn Maupin had five assists.

The Pilots were led by Emma Reed and Rilyn Haught’s six digs. Reese Hobbs had five digs.

Against the CeeBees, Schmidt had 12 digs, three kills, six aces and a block. Ault posted eight digs and four kills. Zara Harveth had six digs and three kills. Boyle had three kills. Rowsen had seven digs and Maupin had seven assists.

River rallied to defeat Clay-Battelle by scores of 25-11 and 25-19.

The Pilots were led by Haught, who had six kills. Hannah Raper had five kills and 10 digs. Emma Reed had eight digs, while Tessa Prim had eight assists.

Barnesville sweeps Bridgeport

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks picked up a sweep of invading Bridgeport on Wednesday by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-8.

The Shamrocks (11-10) were led by Halle Markovich’s 13 kills, seven digs and eight points. Ava McFarland had 33 assists, two kills and seven digs. Ellie Thompson had 11 kills. Kynlie Cline had 21 digs. Darby Jones posted nine digs, 11 points and two aces.

St. Clairsville sweeps Brooke

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils picked up a victory by sweeping Brooke by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.

The Red Devils were led by senior Lydia Wees, who had nine kills, three digs and two blocks. Chloe Biancarelli had four aces, seven kills and four digs.

Harrison sweeps Toronto

CADIZ — Harrison Central posted a sweep of invading Toronto Wednesday evening, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-15.

The Huskies were led by McKayla Dunkle’s 17 kills and eight blocks. Logan Johnson had 27 assists. Maddy Butler posted 25 digs and 20 points. Danica Rensi added 11 points.
