St. C. takes down visitors Wheeling Park
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Roby Hanna struck out four, didn’t walk a batter and gave up 15 hits in a route-going performance as St. Clairsville defeated visiting Wheeling Park, 8-5, in high school baseball action on Unified Bank Field at the Junior Sports Complex.
Brody Saunders and Mickey Balgo both singled, doubled and drove in four runs for the Red Devils (16-4). Nico Jacob singled twice and knocked in a run.
Rocco Digiandomneico and Justin Updegraff each singled three times for the Patriots. Digiandomenico had two runs batted in. Updegraff finished with one RBI. Coldin Burkhart and Mason Charlton each singled twice and drove in a run.
St. Clairsville plays Wheeling Central Saturday at 4 p.m. as part of the Mazeroski Classic at Mazeroski Field inside Sally Buffalo Park.
Buckeye Local 6, Toronto 2
CONNORVILLE — Dominic Kempton hurled a gem as the Panthers topped the visiting Red Knights at Mazeroski Park on the Buckeye Local campus. Kempton fanned six, walked two and scattered five hits.
Buckeye Local tallied three times in the second and fifth frames.
Alex McDiffitt clubbed an RBI double while Mason Griffin, Jordan Kovalski and Hayden Cihon all singled in a run each.
Cole Barcus had a two-run single for Toronto.
Wheeling Central 18, Martins Ferry 2
MARTINS FERRY — The visiting Maroon Knights erupted for 10 runs in the top of the second inning and never looked back in thumping the Purple Riders in five innings.
Zayne Rosnick collected six RBI with a single and home run as Wheeling Central banged out 10 hits against five pitchers who combined to walk 12 Maroon Knights.
Braxton Billick singled twice to knock in three runs, while Koy Lipinski and Luke Tiu each singled, doubled and plated a run.
Rosnick also picked up the mound win with eight strikeouts and three walks in four innings. He gave up three runs. Billick struck out three and walked one in an inning of work.
Luca Shane had an RBI double for Martins Ferry. Hunter Shutler also doubled.

Martins Ferry 9, Indian Creek 2
WINTERSVILLE — The visiting Purple Riders (21-3) received a 10-strikeout performance by Abbey Snedeker in rolling past the Redskins. She also singled twice to drive in a run.
Giana Chirpas sparked the 12-hit Martins Ferry attack with two singles and a triple that produced an RBI. Ella Mamone drove in two runs with a single and double, while Averi Hughes singled in two.
Riley Sadler drove in both Indian Creek runs with a single and double.
River 8, Shenandoah 0
SARDIS — Ava Wohnhas struck out 13 and walked one in tossing a three-hitter as the Pilots (11-13) navigated past the visiting Zeps. (6-16).
Kaylee Hagan drove in two runs for River with a single and double. Jayda Kinney-Blair had a two-run double.
