BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
At 8:12 p.m. Thursday, central dispatch received a call from a woman from West Main Street in Belmont who stated that she received a message from an old high school friend to whom she had not spoken in years. The message stated that he would “kill himself by midnight tonight.” Officers responded for a welfare check on the individual. They made contact with him, and he stated that he did not say those things and would not answer any other questions unless deputies had a warrant. “Other than being uncooperative,” the man seemed to be “fine, unfrazzled and calm,” according to the officers.
At 4:33 p.m. Thursday, domestic trouble was reported at the Circle K on 38th Street in Bellaire. A man and woman were reportedly fist fighting. Units responded and checked the area.
At 6:46 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff’s office deployed the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle to a flood rescue on Sarich Street in Powhatan Point. A resident was trapped, and high water made rescue via her own car impossible, according to the report. The team was able to get her out.
