6 dead after truck hits van carrying Amish

(AP) — A pickup truck went through a stop sign in rural Michigan and crashed into a van carrying members of an Amish community, killing at least six people, authorities said. The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon in Tuscola County’s Gilford Township, 100 miles north of Detroit. (The Center Square) – A second Ohio county is facing a lawsuit for not releasing information pertaining to contracts with U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement. The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio wants public records from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office that relate to documents and communications connected to its agreement with ICE to handle federal immigration functions. The National Federation of Small Business’ Optimism Index showed a rise of 1.2 points in July to 100.3, above the 52-year average of 98.
