St. C. schools seeks public input

At their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the Board of Education is seeking public input for using Federal funds, specifically for Title I and IDEA Part B grant funds in the St. Clairsville-Richland City School District. Title I provides intervention for elementary students in reading and mathematics. It may also be used for professional development. IDEA Part B funds help pay for the excess cost of providing special education and related services to children and youth with disabilities ages 3-21. MARTINS FERRY — The Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce and The Times Leader will host the chamber’s free “Beans & Business” session at 8 a.m. Thursday at The Times Leader offices, 200 S. Morrisey brings gubernatorial campaign to Wheeling

WHEELING — Current West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey touted his record of achievement and adherence to conservative ideals as he brought his 2024 gubernatorial campaign to Wheeling on Wednesday. He said he wants to focus on “fixing the base problems” the state has, many of which are based on workforce, taxation and educational challenges. BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT At 1:52 a.m. Monday, a deputy responded to a report of a hit-skip vehicle crash on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville outside of the Ulta store. The officer spoke with the vehicle owner, who said her vehicle got hit while it was parked in a parking space, and the vehicle sustained visible damage in several areas. At 11:20 p.m. Sunday, central dispatch reported a possible overdose at an address on Chestnut Ridge Road. An officer responded, as did an emergency medical service squad.
