Trustees to accept grant

NEFFS — At noon Thursday, Pultney Township trustees will be meeting for the purpose of accepting an Ohio Public Works grant agreement.

Patrol plans OVI sobriety checkpoint

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Tuesday that troopers will operate a checkpoint for drivers suspected of operating a vehicle under the influence this week, for the purpose of deterring and intercepting impaired drivers.

The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, and the locations will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

Members of the public planning to consume alcohol are advised to designate a driver or make other arrangements before drinking rather than putting others at risk.

Operation support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.

Developmental Disabilities board to meet

WOODSFIELD — Monroe County Board of Developmental Disabilities has scheduled its regular meeting at 6 p.m. today at Monroe Achievement Center’s county board administrative office. This meeting is open to the public.

Martins Ferry sets council meeting

MARTINS FERRY — Martins Ferry City Council will meet at 6 p.m. today in council chambers on the second floor of the city building. The public is welcome to attend.

Belmont GOP seeks judicial applicants

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Due to the appointment of Belmont County Northern Division Court Judge Christopher Berhalter to Belmont County Common Pleas Court judge, an appointment will be made by Gov. Mike DeWine to fill the Belmont County Northern Division Court Judge position. Any qualified attorney interested in being considered for appointment is asked to send a resume to Belmont County Republican Party Chairman David Jones at 400 E. High St., Flushing, OH 43977 no later than Saturday. Jones will provide candidates with the questionnaire from the governor’s office to be filled out and returned for submission to the governor along with the resumes received.

Council session rescheduled

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport Village Council’s regular meeting date has been changed to 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the municipal building.

School board to hold monthly meeting

SHADYSIDE — The Shadyside Local School Board will hold a regular meeting at 5 p.m. today in the district office, 3893 Central Ave.
