Body found in Harrison ID’d
NEW ATHENS — A body found alongside a Harrison County road on Friday has been identified as that of a Bellaire woman.
Harrison County Sheriff Ronald “Joe” Myers and Prosecutor Owen Beetham announced the information Monday.
“The deceased individual discovered on County Road 36 has been positively identified as 40-year-old female Sherry Lynn Shrieve from Bellaire, Ohio,” they said in a statement.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
Shrieve’s body was found early Friday morning about 1 mile from the Belmont/Harrison county line. Multiple agencies responded to the call, including members of the FBI, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.
Myers said the manner of death could not be confirmed Friday.
The discovery marks the second body found in the county in the past two weeks. A woman’s body was located near the dam area of Tappan Lake on Feb. 21. That female was identified as Lorie Storie, 37, of Zanesville, Ohio.
Both bodies were sent to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
