ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Law enforcement officers are searching for the suspect in a robbery that occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Huntington Bank near the Ohio Valley Mall.

Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas said the suspect is a white male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet 2 inches in height, weighing about 250 pounds. The man did not show a gun but did demand money from the employees.

“No weapon was brandished, but (he) indicated by his action that he had a weapon and he asked for a certain type of money in denominations,” Lucas said during a press conference outside of the bank building. “An undisclosed amount of money was given.”

The suspect left the scene alone in a white SUV with a license plate that had a bluish tint. The suspect’s vehicle was parked in a lot near the Marshalls department store.

No one was injured.

“He walked from the parking lot area of Marshalls and Dunham’s and came in … with his (hooded sweatshirt) on and gloves on. When he exited, he went back to that general area. That’s when the white SUV was noticed as the vehicle he was driving,” Lucas added.

Lucas said cameras in the surrounding area would be checked for a better look at the SUV.

“As far as we know he was the only one in the vehicle,” he said.
