BARNESVILLE — A new health care center is coming to Barnesville in 2021, with Doctor’s Urgent Care setting up a site at 875 E. Main Street.
“We’re going to be expanding into that area, offering our mix of appointments and walk-in visits,” Manager Scott McGarry said, noting a need in the area motivated this move. “It just seemed there wasn’t much service provided in that area. We thought we could help out the community and expand our base as well.”
McGarry said the location was originally a WesBanco building and was most recently a home care site. He anticipates an opening date of Jan. 18.
The new facility will offer a full-service clinic with primary care and urgent care services available. Hours of operation will take the public’s schedules into account.
“We’re going to be having extended evening hours one night a week to enable folks who can’t get in through the day,” McGarry said. “Folks from that area can take advantage of the program and be seen at any one of our three clinics for a low monthly rate.”
Doctor’s Urgent Care already has offices at St. Clairsville and Wheeling. McGarry said the two primary care providers at the Barnesville location will be nurse practitioners Olivia Jefferis and Miles Jefferis.
“We’ll have two staff to start, and then depending on volume we’ll go from there,” he said, adding patients can expect a wide range of services.
“We’re looking at urgent care needs in the area. Anything from sprains and strains up through primary care issues. High blood pressure, cholesterol, health maintenance. We’re anticipating seeing pretty much the same mix we’re seeing at our other two clinics now.
“Full lab services will be offered,” he continued. “We’re going to have an X-ray. We’re going to offer our Primary Care 1 product out of that office as well — pretty much a full-service clinic.”
There will be a limited formulary pharmacy for Primary Care One patients. The facility will also expand its housecall program, particularly for elderly or immune-compromised patients who want to avoid the office during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ve received nothing but positive input from the community, and we’re looking forward to getting some service in the area for them,” McGarry said.
Until the phone line is installed in Barnesville, patients can call the St. Clairsville office at 740-695-4940 for assistance.
