TERRY MAYBERRY

Terry Lee Mayberry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at Valley Hospice – Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia, at the age of 78.

Born on May 21, 1947, in Beallsville, Ohio, Terry lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love.

A proud US Navy veteran who honorably served his country with distinction during two tours in Vietnam aboard the Destroyers USS Higbee and USS Agerholm, his commitment and bravery in service were a testament to his character and dedication to his fellow servicemen and women.

Following his military service, Terry spent his career working as a lineman for Verizon Communications where he was known for his commitment and hardworking nature. Outside of his professional life, he had a deep passion for the outdoors. He found joy in hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and carpentry. His talents were many, earning him the affectionate title of a “jack of all trades.”

Terry was a dedicated supporter and friend of the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry, Ohio.

Terry is preceded in death by his father, George Frank Mayberry; mother, Betty Lou Ward Mayberry; sisters, Glenda Ferrell and Linda Wallace; brothers, Dennis Mayberry, Dale Mayberry, and Mark Mayberry.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda L. Mayberry, who stood by his side through life’s many seasons. He leaves behind his cherished children: Terry W. (Alisa) Mayberry, Tammy J. Mayberry Zimmer and Joseph F. Mayberry and also his beloved cat, Lil’ Spot.

His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren: Kailee Jo (Tyler) Mayberry Fee, Michaela Renee Poeppelmeier, Terry James Mayberry, Ashley Marie Zimmer, and Alexis Jo Zimmer. He is also survived by his sister, Doty (Bill) Sturgill, and brother, Jack (Sharon) Mayberry.

Terry is also survived by a special niece and nephew, Beth and Nick Kowalski, many cousins and extended family.

Terry’s warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Terry’s life on November 1st, 2025, from 1 pm to 4 pm at The Farm Restaurant, located at 1247 Ohio – 150, Adena, Ohio, 43901. All who knew and loved Terry are invited to attend and share in this celebration of his remarkable life. Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Honor Guard at 2pm. Immediately following, words of comfort will be offered by Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence.
