General Election

Dear Editor,

The election is now at hand and it is time to consider carefully, the views and programs of all seeking office.

Consideration should be given to the situation and status of our country which was inherited in the 2008 election.

The previous eight years our country was led by a policy and philosophy of removal of oversight of private entities, so they could operate free of regulations, they proceeded to move our industries away from our country, thereby weakening the foundation that made our country a standard for the world. Great countries are not countries of service economies.

There are simple but serious issues to consider. The G.O.P. stated that they will repeal health care reform, thereby forcing the uninsured to use hospital ER’s as their health care providers. ER’s are the most expensive places to get medical care for non life-threatening illness.

Social Security retirement age is increasing to an age that eliminates the young from obtaining gainful employment, when they should be entering the workforce, allowing those who have performed their obligation to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

The argument, that Social Security funding is inadequate, ignores the fact that moving the workforce overseas, thereby eliminates the funding of the Social Security Trust fund. The G.O.P. if given control, has said they will privatize Social Security, thereby making it subject to what happened to retirement funds when they applied to 40lk’s, being placed in the free market, with no controls, they were confiscated by unethical and immoral corruption. The result was devastating to those who saw their life’s labor made useless.

The Tea Party candidates, who won the Republican nomination are espousing the demise of the minimum wage law, civil rights act, social security and anything not stated in the constitution. The literal interpretation of the constitution i.e.: if you can’t find it written in the constitution it will not be considered.

In conclusion, those of you who don’t vote because they all are no good, will be responsible for the demise of our country. The Democratic Party is the most guilty for this situation by letting the G.O. P. collect their pay, for doing nothing for two years, and will continue doing nothing until the next presidential election.

The Democrat Party in the local area should get out of the restaurants and let the people know the truth about the G.O.P.’s, one line lies they espouse. If you wish not to vote and allow the G.O. P. to finish the demise of middle and lower class, I hope you are in the upper two percent of the income bracket.
