Hall-Of-Honor

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Martins Ferry Hall-of-Honor Committee and myself, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed in helping make the 2015 Martins Ferry Hall- of -Honor Induction ceremony, which was held on Sunday, April 12, 2015, a most memorable and quite successful event.

I would like to thank The Citizens Bank for serving as sponsor of our annual event, which they have so graciously done for each of our eight ceremonies today; The Belmont County District Library at Martins Ferry, where our committee meetings are held and plaques of inductees are on display; and Martins Ferry City Schools for providing the venue where our ceremony has taken place throughout our existence.

In addition, I would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to “The Times Leader” for their outstanding work in promoting and covering our yearly event, with special recognition to Betty Pokas and Mike Palmer for playing such a vital role in support of our operation.

Thanks also to the elected officials who were kind enough to provide letters of recognition for our honorees, including Ohio Governor John Kasich, Congressman Bill Johnson, state Senator Lou Gentile, State Representative Jack Cera, Belmont County Commissioner Ginny Favede and Kristine Davis (M.F. Council President), M.F. City Council and M.F. Mayor Paul Riethmiller.

We are also very grateful to all those who participated on various levels in support of our event including: Lamar Advertising, Ohio Valley Awards, Ultimate Sign and Graphics, Thompson and Sons Bakery, and Ohio Valley Printing Company.

Much appreciated also to Boy Scout Troop #62 of the First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry High School Chorus and Del Barris for their participation in and contributions to our event.

Kudos to committee member, Chris Cleary and the City of Martins Ferry for their work on the programs, flyers and media releases in support of our ceremony.

Thanks to our inductees, their families and well-wishes, all those who attended this year’s ceremony, as well as, those who assisted and supported our operation on the day of and prior to the event.

“Hats Off” to Les Douglas who is the founder of the Martins Ferry Hall-of-Honor.

In closing, I encourage everyone to consider checking out the office of the Belmont County Tourism Council at the Ohio Valley Mall, where a display honoring our 2015 inductees will be showcased throughout the month of May 2015.

Many thanks to one and all.

Sincerely,

Richard Hord,

President
