Department thanks parade’s supporters

Dear Editor,

I, Thomas Nelms, fire chief of Powhatan Point Volunteer Fire Department, along with our members would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you.

The weekend of Nov. 12 was our annual Christmas parade. We would like to thank the following people for helping make it a success. Firstly our grand marshals, Powhatan Park Commission, Lisa Arman-Blue, Mark Johnson, John “Poncho” Mitchell, Patty Binni and Kiz Rush. We would also like to thank our two judges, Ben Taylor and Jay Morgan. Also John and Joyce Rosnick for use of their yard and electricity for the judges’ stand. The Powhatan American Legion Saner Post 228 and Powhatan VFW Color guard for leading the parade; also the Powhatan police for traffic control and leading the parade. Also the Powhatan street department for bringing picnic tables and garbage cans to the fire station. Also the Powhatan water department for use of their traffic cones. Thanks to all the participants that were in the parade. Lastly Old Saint Nick himself for taking time out of his busy year to come to our parade and children’s party.

We continued our new tradition of a Christmas party for the children before the parade and had refreshments and prizes after the parade. We would like to give a special thanks to all that donated for the party and prizes: Abbey’s Lounge, HLC Trucking, Ohio-West Virginia Excavating, Lehman’s Lawn Care Nathan Lehman, Belmont Savings  Bank, Middle Creek Garage, Ida Brubaker, McNear Cabinet and Hardware, G.A.B.
