Empathy lacking in recent letter

Dear Editor,

After reading another hate-filled rant about rats from one who speaks of God far too often, I submit this for your further enjoyment.

All the money in the world cannot fix stupid. Nor can it take away the smell of a coward. You can wrap yourself in the flag and throw in some Bible verses, but the lemming in you stays the same, running head-first into the fire only realizing your mistakes at the last second and begging your idea of God for forgiveness only to find out you are a fool. All you had to do was to care, to love, to show empathy, but you chose to fallow those who speak in terms of they and them with hate in their eyes.

You mention a movie; seems to me Flagg is the one closer to our current situation. You mention Hannity, who seems to have gone to the school of Malkin, the undisputed queen of hate speech. Another once said, and I quote, “Naturally, the common people don’t want war … but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.” — Hermann Goring.

I do not hate these people, I feel sorry for them. I even feel sorry for Donald (Trump); he probably has never know true friendship, the kind money cannot buy. He reminds me of a sad child who won’t let you in his clubhouse unless your parents were rich and exclusive. So sad.

Hypocrisy, you say, is reserved for your list of bad people, but you forgot one name, your own. Any man or woman who preaches the words of the world’s religions out of one side of the mouth while spewing hate from the other side is a true hypocrite — no different than those who pick and choose which words to use and not use from the Quran to fuel the hate of us in the West.

Islamic, Christian, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism are all the words of human men attempting to convey a type of spirituality. Be it flawed as it is, it is still based on the love of each other and the growing and nurturing of one’s soul to be more like the one we hold above all else. But when we hold our thoughts above our spirit, above our souls we become our thoughts.

“Above all be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life.” Proverbs 4:23.

And I leave you with this quote by an unknown but loved person: “If the words you spoke appeared on your skin, would you still be beautiful?”
