Yes on Issue 1

Dear Editor, Many Ohioans may not be aware or even understand that the Ohio election on Aug. 8 will determine the future of trapping, hunting, fishing and our gun rights because Issue 1 fails to include these rights. The fact is these trainwreck tactics have already played out in California and a few other states. If you follow the big money on ballot issues, multimillion-dollar anti-hunting and gun control activists want to buy the Ohio Constitution to enact their own foolish agenda — to take our rights away. The mainstream media claims state Issue 1 takes away our right to ...

Cleanup thanks

Dear Editor, The Mead Township Board of Trustees would like to thank the volunteers and participants in our annual clean-up this past weekend under the Moundsville Bridge. Mead Trustees, JB Green Team’s Shawn Albauch and volunteers Kara Baker Justin Colbank assisted with unloading over seventy-five vehicles filling four trash roll offs and one metal roll off. This program is indicative of the importance of responsible solid waste management. Persons who participated were truly appreciative of the event and program. Unfortunately, less than forty-eight hours after the cleanup, and ...

Follow rule of law

Dear Editor, The letter from our local Trump basher is full of fake news and the omitting of actual facts. I urge everyone to read the article from Politico.com “Biden Border Crisis is Worst in American History.” There are four pages of facts countering the writer’s accusations. Border encounters are exponentially up, mainly because on Day 1 Biden stopped the Remain in Mexico policy and stopped all border wall construction! And instead of returning these illegals to Mexico while awaiting their asylum hearings as “required by law,” this administration is illegally releasing ...

Issue 1

Dear Editor, I didn’t pay much attention to this Issue One business until the literature about it was in the paper this morning. Actually, I didn’t even realize that we were having a special election in August. I just assumed when I saw the signs for and against it that it was going to be on the ballot in November. It sounds like the Republican/Conservative position is to vote “yes”. And from what I have researched and read today, I agree with the idea that a 60% vote be required to change the Ohio Constitution. The Constitution isn’t something that in my opinion ...

A grateful community

Dear Editor, I had the pleasure of witnessing today two of our town workers displaying yet another veteran’s banner for my next door neighbor’s father, a World War II veteran. Around our proud community our workers have displayed many flags on our streets and over 100 veterans banners, which take a lot of time out of their days of street, water and grass cutting maintenance. These guys are few in number but do fantastic work to keep our village in working condition and beautiful. The mound cemetery on Arn Avenue is hilly and difficult to cut, but it looks wonderful. The ...
