The Trump Wall

Dear Editor, In order to address immigration concerns Donald J. Trump, during his presidency, had pledged that a top priority of his administration was to build a wall on our southern border, which would be paid in full by Mexico, in order to strongly discourage illegal immigration from Mexico into the United States, which was to be completed during his first term in office. In addition, in a recent town hall meeting hosted by CNN, former President Trump unequivocally stated that the aforementioned wall had indeed been “fully constructed and stretches 1,954 miles between the United ...

Vote No on Issue 1 This August

Dear Editor, Ohio legislators are attempting to grab power for themselves at the expense of everyone else with Issue 1, which will make it harder for working families to make their voices heard on important issues. Since 1912 in Ohio, a constitutional amendment has required a simple majority of 50-percent-plus-one to pass. This process was used to defeat Senate Bill 5 in 2011, which would have taken collective bargaining away from public sector workers. Issue 1 raises the requirement to a 60 percent majority, and in order to cut citizens out of the democratic process, the powerful ...

Babylon and the Corporations

Dear Editor, Recently we have been seeing huge backlashes against corporations pushing DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) policies that have basically horrified and angered middle America. There is just so much that a mom and dad can take when their child is constantly being bombarded with alternative lifestyle advertising, education, and social media saturation. Budweiser, Target, Nike, Chick-fil-A, just to name a few, have sacrificed their shareholders’ dividends to make very unpopular market decisions. There was something I learned very quickly when I was involved in ...

Happy birthday to Larry Doby

Dear Editor, Happy 76th Anniversary, Larry Doby. July 5th marked the 76th Anniversary of Larry Doby playing his first Major League baseball game for the Cleveland Indians in 1947. It was a milestone for integrating the American League along with Jackie Robinson playing his first Major League baseball game for the Brooklyn Dodgers integrating the National League. It was a time when most baseball fans could afford a bleacher, general admission, reserve or box seat. Hot dogs, beer, other refreshments and souvenirs were reasonably priced. Just as Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby ...

Reality

Dear Editor, The Christian scriptures maintain that we are all sinners regardless of sex or race. In fact, we are slaves to this ungodliness.-Rom 6:16, RSV Some humans seek to justify or sanctify their behavior or thoughts while others repent of their wounding themselves and others until God’s judgement of death occurs.-Gen 2:17, Heb 9:27 The Christian scriptures also proclaim the Deliverer — “But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste ...

Inevitable

Dear Editor, When I confront — all the time — the bitter hatred against black and brown people, Jews, Muslims, White Christian Nationalists, LGBTQs, and everyone else, I want to tell everyone to read Walt Whitman’s Observation (1869) about humanity: ∫ each of us inevitable ∫ each of us limitless ∫ each of us with his or her right on the earth ∫ each of us allow’d the eternal purposes of the earth ∫ each of us here divinely as any is here Perhaps if this came to be, everyone would get rid of their guns and smile and shake hands again. It’s worth a ...
