Beallsville hosting event to benefit ‘Rally for Life’

Beallsville’s a very tight-nit community where the residents always seem to look out for one another.

When one of their own is battling trouble, they respond in waves to help the cause.

That’s why its ‘Rally for Life’ program has been so well received over the years.

“The “Rally for Life” has been eagerly working for over eight years to raise funds to help area cancer patients and their families,” Rally for Life Golf Scramble Chairperson Robin Harper said. “In this short time, we have awarded more than $175,000 to families throughout the entire Switzerland of Ohio Local School District, (not just from the Beallsville service area) and we have proudly contributed funds annually to Monroe County’s own model service program, ‘Gas Cards, Inc.'”

Much of the fundraising and events surrounding the ‘Rally for Life’ have been done through the school, but with the school’s future in limbo, the ‘Rally for Life’ committee has been seeking other methods to raise funds.

“We are very concerned that with the loss of our high school, that next year we may possibly not be able to raise the needed funds for our “Rally for Life” program because the grade school and high school both are such an integral part of our organization,” Harper said. “Both entities help us with fundraisers all year long and with our high school closing, there goes a huge opportunity for funding.”

So, the committee is trying to get a jump on fundraising and is planning a golf scramble to generate money.

“This isn’t simply just another fundraiser,” Harper said.

The scramble will be held on Friday, May 2 at Switzerland of Ohio Country Club. It will feature a shot-gun start at 9 a.m.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals for $50. Individuals are able to use these as an in memory or in honor of.

For more information or to register a team, please contact Harper at 740-926-1125.
