Monteroso makes most of his chance

Dan Monteroso has been doing it his entire life.

Making big plays in clutch times.

Whether it was on the football field or basketball court at St. Clairsville High School during his prep days, Monteroso has always had the ability to perform at a high level.

Now a junior at Purdue University, Monteroso, who has been slowed at times during his collegiate career by injury, showed a glimpse of his ability last Saturday when his only catch of the game resulted in a 51-yard touchdown on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half against Indiana State.

“I just did what I’ve been coached to do,” Monteroso said during the post-game press conference last week. “I took off (at the snap), saw him throw the ball and just watched it all the way in, got my feet in (bounds) and handed the ball to the official.”

For Monteroso, it was his first career touchdown.

“I am not even going to lie, I got really hyped afterward,” Monteroso said.
