ST. CLAIRSVILLE — There are a lot of golf scrambles held throughout the spring and summer in the Ohio Valley to benefit great causes. Gulfport and Stingray teamed for their annual event last month at Belmont Hills Country Club and last Tuesday they presented the proceeds to the Harmony House Children’s Advocacy Center in St. Clairsville. NFHS holds section meeting in Wheeling

WHEELING — Though it might sometimes be tough to tell, education-based athletics are doing quite well in the United States. WVU’s McKivitz earns another accolade

Another week and another accolade for West Virginia redshirt sophomore Colton McKivitz. The Mountaineers’ starting offensive tackle continued to impress during the victory at Kansas last Saturday. West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen announced that the entire offensive line was the offensive champion of the week. However, PFF College Football named McKivitz as one of its two Big 12 offensive tackles of the week. WHEELING - The Lois Stobbs Memorial Veterans Day 10K Run & Walk is set for Saturday, Nov. 4, boasting a special feature. The eighth annual event is dedicated to honoring local fallen heroes. The quest for the coveted golf state championship in Ohio begins this week. Area teams will take part in the sectional tournaments, beginning Monday. The Division II schools will play at River Greens in West Lafayette that day, while the Division III schools will tee it up at the Cambridge Country Club on Wednesday. The Eastern District girls teams and individuals will play on Tuesday at Carroll Meadows.
