BETTY HANLON

Betty Linn (Craig) Hanlon of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away quietly on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1921, in Bellaire, OH, to Martin E. and Stella G. (Trigg) Craig.

She graduated from St. Clairsville High School and Elliot School of Business, and she retired from St. Clair Travel.

She grew up in the East Richland Friends Church and was a member of Thoburn United Methodiest Church for over 70 years, where she previously taught Sunday school.

She was a Cub Scout den mother, 4-H leader and past secretary for the Alumni Association.

She was a member of the Child Study Club that founded the St. Clairsville Memorial Park and served as the parks first secretary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Nick” Hanlon, who she married on June 14, 1947. They were married 53 yeas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jay F. (Lois) Craig; sisters, Marceline (Ollie) Swartz, Carol Murphy, Geraldine (Art) Beck and Peggy Lee (Ed) Cochran; sons, Tom (Judy) Hanlon of St. Clairsville, OH, and Charley (Christy); daughter, Priscilla Hanlon of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Cory (Jesica) Hanlon, Hillary (Rodney) Morgan, Kelli (Ronan) Verdu, Eric (Katie) Hanlon, Laura (Tuckker) Brashen Mozena and Sarah Hanlon; and great-grandchildren, Jenna Hanlon, Nick Hanlon, Hunter Morgan, Haley Morgan, Abby Verdu, Jack Verdu, Charlie Hanlon and Howie Hanlon.

She enjoyed seeing and hearing from countless nephews and nieces that kept in touch with her. You always knew what she thought.

Family and friends will be received at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, OH, 43950 on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
